Cavaliers claim 19th conference volleyball title

OVERLAND PARK, KS --  The Johnson County Community College volleyball team, ranked second in the country, completed an unbeaten Jayhawk East Conference season and captured its 19th conference championship in the program’s 34-year history.  It is the Cavaliers first title since 2003, and the fifth under Hall of Fame coach Jill Stinson.

JCCC finished 9-0 in the conference, and stand 23-4 as the team prepares for the Region VI/District N Tournament next.  The Cavaliers are vying for its third consecutive trip to the National Tournament, and its fourth trip in five years.  JCCC won a national championship in 2005.

The Cavaliers secured the conference championship with a 3-0 victory over cross-town rival Kansas City Kansas.  JCCC won by scores of 30-21, 30-25 and 30-25.
