Lady Cavaliers well represented on all-conference soccer teams
Weston, one of the team's captains and an all-conference midfielder last year, has scored 10 goals and is tied for the team lead with 14 assists. Her 34 total points are fourth highest on the team. She is also tied for the team lead with three game winning goals. Her biggest goal of the season came against nationally ranked Hutchinson in the Region VI semifinal, giving a 1-0 victory. In the region final match against Barton County, Weston provided the game winning assist in the 108th minute of overtime, giving JCCC its seventh title in 11 years. For her career, Weston ranks among the all-time leaders in goals (17-T-21st), assists (23-T-8th) and points (57-13th).
Pride, also a midfielder, ranks third on the team in points with 36 and goals with 13, and ranks fourth with 10 assists. She is tied for 66th in the NJCAA in scoring. Two of her 13 goals have been game winners and she is a perfect 3-for-3 in penalty kick goals. She had both in JCCC's recent win over North Idaho to win Districts and advance to the NJCAA Tournament. Her first goal proved to be the game winner, and her second came on a penalty kick. During the week of Sept. 29-Oct. 6, Pride scored three goals and had two assists in a win over Coffeyville, and was chosen the KJCCC Player of the Week.
Shepard, who has seen action at both defender and midfielder, earned her honor as a defender. She leader of a defensive unit that has recorded 17 shutouts, five straight in postseason play, with a goals against average of 068. She also has been a key offensive contributor this season with six goals and six assists for 18 points.
McMahan and Peavler rank one-two in scoring for JCCC this season. McMahan leads with 49 points, followed closely by Peavler's 46 points. Both also rank in the top 50 in scoring with McMahan at No. 34 and Peavler at 41. McMahan also leads the team with four hat tricks the season, which ties the team season record. She began her career with a four-goal, two-assist effort in a 22-0 win over Independence. That effort earned her Conference Player of the Week honors.
Peavler has three hat tricks on the season, and has twice been honored as the Conference Player of the Week. She earned her first honor during the week of Sept. 8-15, after scoring the game's only goal in a win over No. 9 Southwestern Illinois. Her second came Oct. 13-20 after scoring six goals and two assists in a win over Cowley and Blue River. Against Blue River, she netted the first four goals of the match, and added an assist later.
Smith has been another key cog in JCCC's defense this season, helping them record 17 shutouts, five straight in postseason play, with a goals against average of 068.
Voigts, JCCC top net-minder for two seasons, has etched her name among the best, if not the best, goalkeeper in team history. She has set six individual season and career records to date, and is on the verge of tying the national record for shutouts in a season. Voigts currently stands with 17 shutouts, a JCCC and conference record. The national record is 18. Voigt also set season records for saves (111) and minutes played (2,064:00). Her career records are for shutouts (23), saves (195) and minutes (3,941:10). Her 17 season wins and 30 career wins rank third on their respective all-time charts.
McKinney is tied for the team lead with 14 assists. She also has eight goals, giving her 30 points. That ties her for 94th nationally. McKinney had an amazing collegiate debut, scoring two goals along with a school and conference record six assists, helping JCCC to a school record 22-0 win over Independence. Her biggest goal of the season came in the 108th minute of double overtime against nationally ranked Barton County, giving JCCC its seventh Region VI title in 11 years. In JCCC's semifinal 1-0 win over Hutchinson, McKinney provided the game winning assist. She also had the game winning assist in JCCC District Championship win over North Idaho.
