Johanson among leaders for fourth straight event

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Johnson County Community College sophomore Trevor Johanson is off to a tremendous start to the 2009-10 season. For the fourth consecutive week, Johanson was in the hunt for a tournament victory. Prior to the Barton County Designated on Monday, Sept. 28, Johanson had recorded three runner-up finishes. Monday afternoon, he posted a third-place finish with a 36-hole total of 145. He opened play at the par-70 Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson, Kan., with a one-over 71. He capped the day with a four-over 74, finishing just two shots back of Dale Middleton of Hutchinson and Chien Hau Tan of Dodge City.

Other JCCC golfers finishing in the top 10 were freshman Eric Herman and sophomore Garrett Carver. Herman shot rounds of 74 and 76 for a 150 total and a seventh place finish. Carver carded a 79 and 73 for a 152 to finish in a three-way tie for eighth place.

Rounding out JCCC's team were freshman Codie Christie, who tied for 17th
(81-76=157) and sophomore Bryce Rowe who tied for 20th (81-77=158).
