JCCC's Christensen wins KJCCC Fourth Designated

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- Johnson County Community College sophomore Miles Christensen of Junction City, Kan., opened the spring Kansas Jayhawk Conference season with a victory at the Fourth Designated Tournament at Falcon Lakes Golf Course in Basehor, Kan., yesterday. Christensen opened the tournament with a 77, and followed with a 74 to win top medalist honors by two strokes over Dale Middleton of Hutchinson Community College.
The victory is the first of Christensen's collegiate career. He recorded two runner-up finishes in the fall season, and has 10 top 10 finishes in his career at JCCC.
JCCC freshmen Nathan Allison of Topeka, Kan., and Garret Carver of Burlington Junction, Mo., also finished in the top for the Cavaliers. Allison placed eighth overall with a 161 (86-75) and Carver placed 10th with a 162 total (80-81).
Their efforts helped JCCC to a second place finish in the team standings.
Hutchinson was overall champion with a team score of 632. JCCC finished
five strokes back at 637, and two ahead of Kansas City Kansas.
The Cavaliers hit the links again this weekend, playing in the Bethel Invitational. On Saturday, the tournament field will play at Hesston Golf Park in Hesston, Kan., and then finish at Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kan., on Sunday.
