Three JCCC golfers garner all-conference honors

OVERLAND PARK, KS Three members of the Johnson County Community College golf team were among the top 15 players in the final Kansas Jayhawk Conference point standings for the 2008-09 season, and earned all-conference recognition.  Sophomore Miles Christensen finished among the top five to earn first-team honors.  Freshmen Trevor Johanson and Nate Allison earned honorable mention honors finishing among in the 11 to 15 group.

Christensen, the teamıs MVP this season, finished third overall with 45.5 points.  That total set a new team record, eclipsing the previous high of 43 set by Kirk Schneider in 1994-95.  Additionally, only three players in team history have placed higher than third in the standings.

With only the NJCAA Championship remaining, Christensen leads the team with a 76.9 stroke average.  He has finished in the top 10 in seven of the nine tournaments, including a victory at the Kansas City Kansas Designated and runner-up finishes at the Dodge City Designated and Hutchinson Designated.

Johanson finished with 13.5 points, which tied for 13th overall in the standings.  Johanson currently ranks second on the team with a stroke average of 77.6.  He has finished in the top 10 four times.  In his last event, Johanson fired a score of two under over 54 holes to finish second at the Indian Hills Invitational in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Allison also recorded 13.5 points in the standings and tied for 13th place.
Allison ranks third on the team with an 80.1 stroke average.  He has three top 10 finishes including a fifth place effort at the Hutchinson Designated last fall. He began the spring season with an eighth place finish at the Kansas City Kansas Designated.
