Mike Andries commits to become a Cavalier

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- Johnson County Community College head baseball coach Kent Shelley announced Mike Andries, a 6-0, 185 pound catcher from Cedar Rapids Xavier High School (Iowa), has given his commitment to the Cavaliers baseball program.

Andries led the way for the Saints, who finished 3rd in Iowa last season, and are consistently one of the top programs in the state of Iowa.  Andries hit .350, with nine doubles, 43 RBI’s, eight home runs, and scored 30 runs in his junior season.  For his efforts, he was selected first-team all district and second-team all conference.

Andries coaches say he plays the game with a linebacker’s mentality and is a very physical player.  He is expected provide power from the left side of the plate, and will be counted on to drive in runs his freshman year.
