Cavaliers Move Up to No 7 in NJCAA Poll

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- The Johnson County Community College baseball team is adding on to their best start in school history. The Cavaliers are currently 22-5 overall and ranked seventh in the country, which is the program’s highest ranking in school history. JCCC also has a two-game lead in the East Jayhawk Conference standings with an 8-2 record to date.

The team and several individuals are showing up in the NJCAA statistical leaders reports. JCCC is hitting .340 as team, which ranks 24th nationally, and are scoring nine runs per game. Individual offensive leaders include; John Lenherr (.494 / 10th nationally), Tanner Funk (.490 / 11th nationally), Brian McCulloch (.366), and Davis Morgan (.364). On the mound the Cavalier’s have a team ERA of 2.45. The staff currently leads the KJCCC and are ranked in the top 10 nationally. Pitching leaders include Brandon Droge (1.97 / 6-1), Gage Daniels (1.77 / 4-2 / 46th nationally), Scott Brady (1.11 / 3-0 / 22nd nationally), and closer Nick Holtgrieve (.91 / 16th nationally / 7 saves / 4th nationally).

Johnson County will return to action this Saturday at home against Independence Community College at 1:00 pm.
