Cavaliers take two from Labette
OVERLAND PARK, KS -- The Johnson County Community College baseball team recently swept a double header against Labette. JCCC took game one, 4-1, behind a strong pitching performance from Brandon Droge. He pitched six innings, giving up no runs, while only allowing three hits. Droge improved his record to 5-0 on the season. The JCCC bats were fairly quiet in the game but they hit enough to preserve the win. John Lenherr, Davis Morgan, J.P. LaMunyon, and Brian McCulloch each had one hit on the day, while Nate Thomas collected two. The clutch hitter on the day was Brian McCulloch who drove in two RBI's both with two outs.
The Cavaliers completed the sweep with an 8-2 win in game two behind another strong pitching performance from Gage Daniels. Daniels pitched four innings, giving up no earned runs, and only allowing three hits. Brad Alberts came in during a jam in the fourth inning and stopped it with the first batter he faced. He then pitched a perfect sixth while Nick Holtgrieve continued his brilliance in the seventh.
After a very slow start by the offense, the bats came alive in the fifth inning for the Cavaliers. JCCC scored seven runs on four hits and took advantage of two errors by Labette. David Drahozal, Lenherr, LaMunyon, Tanner Funk, and Harrison Gerber collected one hit a piece, while McCulloch continued his hot hitting adding two hits. Thomas and LaMunyon drove in two RBI's each.
