OVERLAND PARK, KS - The Johnson County Community College baseball team secured second place in the East Jayhawk Conference this afternoon with an 11-0 win over Coffeyville. The win also proved to be a milestone victory for sophomore left-hander Brandon Droge. It gave him 18 in his career at JCCC, setting a new team record.

Droge, an All-American selection last year, went five innings, allowing no runs and three strikeouts. He is also the program's all-time strikeout leader. Sophomore closer Nick Holtgrieve pitched a 1-2-3 sixth to secure JCCC's 40th win of the season.

At the plate JCCC got production up-and down the line up, but freshman Josh Piper and sophomore John Lenherr had big days. Piper was 4-for-4 with three RBI, and Lenherr went 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Other key at bats came from freshman Davis Morgan, sophomore Brian McCulloch and freshman Sam Stucky. Morgan drove in three runs on two hits, McCulloch has an two hits and an RBI and Stucky was 1-for-2 with two batted in. Also driving a run were sophomore David Drahozal, freshman Tanner Funk and sophomore Nate Thomas.

The Cavaliers will host either Cloud County or Seward County on Saturday in the first round of the Region VI Tournament.
