Cavaliers eliminated from Region VI Tournament
OVERLAND PARK, KS The Johnson County Community College baseball saw its amazing 2009 season come to a close over the weekend at the Region VI Tournament in Wichita, Kan. The Cavaliers lost the opening game to Colby 9-2, and the fell to Barton County in the elimination bracket, 8-3. The Cavaliers end their season with a mark of 43-15. Their 43 wins are the most under head coach Kent Shelly, and rank as the fourth highest season win total in team history. The sophomores on this team posted a two-year mark of 84-33 (.718).
"Itıs disappointing for everyone," said head coach Kent Shelley.
"We had one of the best clubs in the region but we made too many mistakes to overcome. The breaks just did not go our way, but we have nothing to keep our head down. I am proud of these guys. Forty-three wins is a great seasons and our sophomores will go down as one of the best classes in our teamıs history. We look forward to the challenges next year, and canıt wait to get back on the field."
