Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, 20 USC 1092 (f) , is a federal law passed in 1990 that requires colleges and universities to disclose information about campus crime. All public and private institutions of postsecondary education participating in federal student aid programs are subject to it. A three year period of crime statistics must be reported, campus security policies, as well as a public crime log. The public crime log is maintained elsewhere on this site.

In 1992 the act was amended to add a requirement that schools afford the victims of campus sexual assault certain basic rights. In 1998 it was amended again expanding the reporting requirements and formally naming the law in memory of Jeanne Clery. The law was recently amended again in 2000. This amendment requires that all colleges and universities notify the campus community about where public "Megan's Law" information about registered sex offenders on campus could be obtained. This information is available through our website or at the police department's Communications Center, CC115.
