Graham’s two-act ballet, Clytemnestra, is her largest-scale work, as well as her only full-length work, and is considered by many to be her masterpiece.
Based on the ancient Greek tale, the piece tells the story of Queen Clytemnestra during the Trojan War. A troupe of 21 dancers bring to life the psychodrama of a timeless tale of betrayal, murder, revenge and redemption.
The story creates a compassionate, emotional main character out of one of literature’s most reviled women while providing a riveting modernist approach to the themes underlying generations of conflict.
“Graham was easily on a par with Shakespeare in her ability to capture largerthan- life characters and life-altering moments.” – Chicago Sun Times
