Tuition Rates (Credit) Fall 2010

Missouri residents may complete the science, math, English and other degree requirements at a college of their convenience. However, if you choose to take these courses at JCCC, out-of-state tuition will be assessed. Careful counseling must be considered to ensure that comparable and transferable courses are taken. Missouri residents will need to formally apply to JCCC and Penn Valley Community College for their Respiratory Care courses. There exists an agreement between these two colleges which allows most Missouri residents to pay in-state tuition at the Metro Community College rate (for their Respiratory Care courses only), thus avoiding out-of-state tuition to JCCC. These students do, however, pay a liability insurance fee to JCCC.

In addition, all students will need to consider the following potential expenses:

Clinic Accessories:
Lab coat (at least two) $30.00 each
  Stethoscope $30.00
  Wristwatch with second hand $30.00
  Pocket calculator $10.00
  Bandage scissors  $5.00
  Program arm patch  $3.00
  Protective eyewear  $7.00 each

Cost of items such as lab coats, stethoscope, watch, scissors, etc., will depend on individual student selection and need.

Books/standardized examinations: $400-$500 for respiratory care courses

Non-refundable liability insurance fee: $15 for the clinic activities

American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) student membership: $50 per year (optional but strongly encouraged)

State of Kansas and/or Missouri student registration: $25-$50 (necessary for employment gained while in the program)

Other expense considerations that are the student's responsibility:
  • Student get-togethers
  • Transportation to and from class and clinical agencies
  • Physical examination and other health care costs, to include X-ray and documentation of vaccinations and/or immunizations
  • Drug screening (currently $21)
  • Background check (currently $46)
  • Child care
  • NBRC examination fees (CRT $190; RRT written and clinical simulation $390 currently)
Students anticipating difficulty in financing their education should contact the Financial Aid Office of the attending college (JCCC or PVCC).
