Description:
This course introduces the student to activities that create interaction
between the individual and/or individuals and elements of the outdoor
recreational setting. Outdoor Recreation Students plan activity projects
such as camping, hiking, nature observation and biking. 3 hrs./wk. or, may
be taught online for 16 weeks. This course will not meet the general
education requirement for Health and/or Physical Education.

Upon successful completion of this course the student should be able to:
- Define Outdoor Recreation.
- Analyze the fundamentals of Outdoor Recreation.
- Review outdoor recreational activities
- Review basic outdoor recreation first aid.
- Characterize the pioneers of outdoor recreation.
- Estimate the economic impact of outdoor pursuits.
- Identify the federal resources available for outdoor pursuits.
- Identify the state resources available for outdoor pursuits.
- Identify the local resources available for outdoor pursuits.
- Investigate new resources that may be utilized for outdoor pursuits.
- Investigate outdoor recreation resources in other countries.

Demonstrate the successful set up and take down of a low impact camping environment. B. Organize and implement a personal outdoor recreation experience.
Methods of Evaluation of Competencies:
Evaluation of student mastery of course competencies will be accomplished using the following methods:
Tests and Final Exam 50-70% of grade Projects 20-50% of grade Quizzes/Lab Assignment/Homework 15-25% of grade Total 100%
Caveats:
- The students will join teams for various outdoor projects.
