DRAF 266 - GRAPHIC COMM II/INTERIOR DESGN
Description:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student
should be able to draft three-dimensional representations
of interior spaces, furniture, window treatments and
decorative accessories. One-point and two-point
perspective
drawing, isometric drawing and perspective grids are
covered. Student will draft in pencil on vellum and ink
on mylar. 2. hrs, lecture, 3 hrs. lab/wk. Supplies: Refer to the instructor’s course syllabus for details about any supplies that may be required.

Content Outline & Competencies: I. Drafting Perspective Drawings Using the Revolved-Plan Method A. Draft one-point perspective drawings of interior spaces. B. Draft two-point perspective drawings of interior spaces. C. Draft sloped ceilings. D. Draft staircases. E. Draft people. F. Draft furniture caddy-corner to the wall G. Draft furniture adjacent to the wall. H. Draft free-standing furniture. I. Draft fireplaces. J. Draft offset walls. K. Draft cabinetry. L. Draft window treatments. M. Draft decorative accessories. II. Use Perspective Grids As A Time-Saving Technique A. Use pre-made perspective grids to draw kitchens. B. Use pre-made perspective grids to draw living rooms. C. Use pre-made perspective grids to draw bedrooms. III. Demonstrate how to manipulate a 60-degree cone of vision from a fixed station point to draw different views of a space. IV. Isometric Drafting A. Use techniques of isometric drafting to draw geometric forms. B. Use techniques of isometric drafting to draw furniture. C. Use techniques of isometric drafting to draw cut-away houses and rooms. V. Presentation Quality Drawings A. Develop the ability to produce freehand sketches. B. Demonstrate the ability to use references such as catalogs and artist drawings to incorporate appeal-enhancing décor into the drawing. C. Develop the ability to produce freehand sketches. Methods of Evaluation of Competencies: Evaluation of student mastery of course competencies will be accomplished using the following methods: Worksheets: 80% of grade

90 - 100% = A
80 - 89% = B
70 - 79% = C
60 - 69% = D
Below 60% = F
