The USGBC LEED Assessment Systems and Business Opportunities

The goal of this seminar is to provide informational and educational opportunity for those in the design and construction industry, to better understand the USGBC LEED 2009 Green Building Rating System criteria and process. This course is not a LEED AP prep class but rather a basic intro course-no previous knowledge is required. In addition, the presentation will give an overview of green building practices, with emphasis on potential business opportunities in the development, design, material supplier and construction industry regarding the green building industry.

LEED Green Associate Test Prep 8 hours The focus of this course is to prepare attendees for the LEED Green Associate (GA) examination. Any non-LEED AP must pass the LEED GA exam before moving on to all LEED AP examinations. This 12-hour session is designed for those who have no prior experience working in the construction industry. This course prepares you for the LEED Green Associate accreditation examination. For those who are working in a related construction industry, this is the first examination you have to take before you can take the LEED AP BD+C examination. Class 4: Sustainable Business Planning: A Facilitated Workshop

Throughout the first three sessions students have gathered new information, organizational formats and exercises directly applicable for their organizations. These will be used in the final session including a facilitated workshop of breakout groups and review. Groups will compare and contrast the issues, impediments, benefits, schedules and budgets for a Corporate Sustainability Plan in the business sectors they represent. Groups will then report their findings to the class. Written findings of the breakout groups will be distributed to students after the final session. The final assignment will be a Sustainability Plan for your organization or industry. The plans will be evaluated by the instructors for minimum certification requirements and applicability as a useful deliverable for implementation in your businesses. This course is designed for someone that is beginning their career in the Home Performance workforce or exploring that realm of work. Home Performance covers a broad range of possible trades and occupations, most notably the HVAC technician, Building Envelope workers such as air sealing, insulation, and vapor barrier workers, siding and window specialists. This course has been designed to help you prepare for various NATE, NARI, BPI, RESNET, and other industry credentials for green building.
