Celebrating Artists' Extraordinary Contributions To Our Lives
Beyond Bounds – Brilliant! took place in the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art on October 22, 2011. The event raised more money than in any previous year thanks to the support of the event co-chairs, Dr. Mary Davidson Cohen and Dr. J. David and Mrs. Dana Kriet, the artists and the community.
This year, we sought a word which best exemplifies artists -- their talent, their innovation and their extraordinary contributions to our lives. We chose BRILLIANT! And, the color yellow was selected to symbolize brilliance. Luminous, radiant, shining and ingenious -- all signify the word BRILLIANT!
In 1992, the first Beyond Bounds benefit was organized on behalf of the former JCCC Gallery of Art. Artists received a plain, white silk scarf and were asked to transform it for silent and live auctions. The event far exceeded our expectations!
Held biennially, Beyond Bounds has grown into one of Kansas City's most highly anticipated art events. To date, the event has raised more than $700,000 to support exhibitions, acquisitions and arts education programs at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art.
