Hugh W. Speer Award for Distinguished Service
Dr. Hugh W. Speer was a member of the college's Founding Board of Trustees and served as a trustee to the college for 29 years. During that time, he seldom missed a foundation event. He was a relentless, tireless advocate for education and the college.
The Hugh W. Speer Award for Distinguished Service is one of the Foundation's highest honors and is given to a college Foundation Board member, college trustee, college employee or community leader who has had a profound impact on education and served the college to help fulfill its mission to the students and the community.
At its 2015 annual dinner, the Foundation recognized Jon Stewart for his 20-plus years of service and leadership. He is an alumnus. He served as a charter member of the Alumni Relations Council. He was elected by the public as a college trustee. He's a Foundation Board member, and he contributes to support important college initiatives.
