Verification for 2012-2013 Academic Year
You may be selected for verification after you have already been awarded due to special circumstances. If this causes a change in your award, then within 10 days you will receive an email notification to review your new award letter.
If you are selected for verification, below is a list of procedures to follow:
Before you can receive federal financial aid you must provide us with certain documents in a timely manner. You can find a list of all the requested documents by logging into your student account, and following these steps:
- Select the EASI tab
- Student & financial aid
- Financial aid
- Financial aid requirements
- Select aid year
Minimum Requirements for Verification

- Any other documents requested in your financial aid requirements or by email request from our office.
If you have not used the IRS Data Retrieval at the initial FAFSA filing or through the FAFSA Web Correction process, this will slow down the verification process.
- You must provide an IRS tax return transcript for you, your spouse or parent(s) as applicable.
- Tax transcripts can be requested online at www.irs.gov.
- select Order a Tax Account Transcript or
- call 800-908-9946 and follow the voice prompts or
- mail in the IRS Form 4506-T-EZ Request for Transcript of Tax Return that can be downloaded on the above IRS site.
Other than using the IRS Data Retrieval, once you have submitted documents to our office, please do not make any changes to your FAFSA as this will slow down the verification process.
Priority Dates to Submit Verification Documents
Refer to the financial aid calendar for the fall, spring and summer priority dates.
Consequences for Submitted Documents after the Priority Date
You must be prepared to either pay up front for your classes or else sign up for the payment plan.
You will then be awarded once your verification is reviewed. The verification processing and awarding usually takes additional time due to the number of applicants being processed the month before classes start.
It is in your best interest to submit your documents early.
Consequences for not submitting verification documents
If you do not submit these documents within 30 days of this letter, your file will be made inactive, however, you will be allowed to reactivate your file provided the following deadlines have not passed for the semester for which you are applying.
- Fall – December 1, 2012
- Spring – May 1, 2013
- Summer – July 1, 2013
If this date falls on a weekend you will be allowed to turn it in on the following Monday.
Exception, for Pell only, provided you have a Student Aid Report with an official EFC while still enrolled, you have until the deadline published in the Federal Register or 120 days after your last date of enrollment, whichever is earlier, to complete your verification.
Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy
Be aware that once a semester has ended, your financial aid award and disbursement are subject to your meeting the Satisfactory Academic Policy requirements.
