Financial Aid Priority Deadline

Financial aid is awarded by academic year. Students must re-apply by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the next aid year in order to receive funds for the following fall and spring semesters.

You can apply for JCCC general scholarships and federal aid (FAFSA) beginning every Jan. 1, with the priority deadline of April 1.

Applying for scholarships before the priority deadline will provide a better opportunity for consideration because the majority of scholarship funds are awarded to those who apply before this date.

The priority deadline gives the Financial Aid Office time to process your application and make funds available in time to protect your enrollment in classes.

You can still apply after April 1 and receive financial aid, but you may need to pay your tuition and fees yourself to hold your classes until you're awarded your financial aid.

If you get financial aid for the fall and spring - August through May, you can't get financial aid for the summer unless you have funds remaining from your aid-year award. For more information, call the Financial Aid Office at 913-469-3840 in early spring to review your options.
