Return Title IV Funds (R2T4)

Return of Title IV (R2T4)

Examples of Title IV funds or federal financial aid are:

  • Subsidized and Unsubsidized Direct Loans
  • Perkins Loans
  • Parent PLUS Loans
  • Pell Grants
  • SEOG Grants

Return of Title IV or R2T4 refers to the calculation done when a financial aid student withdraws from all classes, receives a zero GPA or is entitled to a post-withdrawal disbursement. The calculation determines if it is necessary to return a portion of the federal financial aid to the Department of Education that a student received and did not earn. Or it determines how much a student is entitled to receive as a post-withdrawal disbursement if the student earned the federal aid and was not paid yet. The calculation of R2T4 is required by the Department of Education.
