Federal Work-Study Program (FWS)
Federal Work-Study (FWS) is part-time employment offered to students who have financial need so they can earn money to meet their educational expenses.
The maximum amount you can earn in an academic year is $4,000. You do NOT have to repay federal work-study money.
Federal Work-Study student employees must be enrolled in at least six hours of classes and must be making satisfactory academic progress to be eligible to receive the Federal Work-Study Award.
Applying for Federal Work-Study
You request federal work-study on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you didn't request federal work-study on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, you may log back into your FAFSA application and request federal work-study.
Federal Work Study is awarded by academic year. The fall through spring semesters encompass August through May.
You must re-apply for the next academic year by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to potentially qualify for the following fall and spring semesters. We suggest reviewing the priority dates and completing the FAFSA by early February.
Federal Work-Study Awards
Federal Work-Study awards are made on a first-come, first-served basis. Funding for the Federal Work-Study program is limited. Money will be awarded as it becomes available.
