Your guide to dining on campus

New and improved: Discover the best spots to eat on campus

We’re fans of food at Johnson County Community College – so much so, that when it came time to map out our campus transformation project, we decided to serve up some Dining Services enhancements.

The Food Court

Start the semester off right at our new and improved food court!

  • Over the summer, we extended our salad bar to display more of your leafy favorites. But that’s not all – we also upped the ante and added a parfait station complete with Greek yogurt, flavored yogurt, granola, fruit and more. Build your own creation, pay by weight and bon appétit!
  • The hot bar has expanded to feature vegetarian options and will provide in-house smoked meats and veggies throughout the semester. According to Jason Arnett, Manager of Coffee Bars and the Food Court, these changes are focused on inclusion. “We want to make sure our vegetarians are served, and we want to make sure our friends who love meat are served. It’s about offering something for everyone.”
  • Say hello to Pepsi Spire. This touchscreen soda fountain allows you to create a unique drink selection that suits your taste buds. Over a thousand combinations are possible, and the machine is ADA-compliant.
  • Experience your food in a new way at Sushi with Gusto. We’ve taken fresh to a whole new level, allowing you to witness your meal made firsthand.
  • Healthier options are the name of the game at BLVD Burgers. Our fries and onion rings are now oven-baked instead of deep-fried.

Our Food Court staples – Pizza Hut, Chick-fil-A and Firehouse Subs – are prepped and ready for your enjoyment. If you’re looking for additional incentives to stop by the Food Court, don’t miss our half-price salad bar on Fridays, omelets on Wednesdays and Lunch with the Chefs once a month.

Down Under

One of our dining areas – Down Under – is closed while the JCCC Bookstore is renovated. During this time, a temporary bookstore will be housed in the lower level of COM.

Café Tempo

Enjoy tasty meals at Café Tempo, located between the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art and the Regnier Center. The following new menu items are coming soon:

  • Beef/lamb gyro
  • Al pastor tacos
  • Turkey, ham and brie sandwich
  • Sunbutter wrap
  • Greek salmon salad
  • Additional breakfast tacos

Keep your eyes peeled for our pancake special during breakfast on Thursdays and our monthly Veg Out event that boasts a mouth-watering vegan spread.

Coffee bars

Did someone say pumpkin spice? That’s right, in addition to serving regular and specialty coffee, pastries, Fresh-To-Go products and more, our coffee bars – JavaJazz, Encore! Espresso and ViBE – have your favorite fall drink on hand.

If you’re looking for a quick bite to eat, each coffee shop also offers a variety of salads and sandwiches, including a California club, turkey pastrami and veggie wrap. You can even purchase turkey provolone, egg salad and tuna salad triangle sandwiches for only $2.99.

Be the first to know what’s cooking on campus

Arnett says, “We are very excited for the changes taking place. From the Food Court renovations to reimagining some of our menu items, we have made every decision with our students top-of-mind and have ensured there is enough food for everyone.”
