Perks of being a Cavalier: Student ID discounts

August 18, 2018

JCCC students have opportunities to save time and money using their student IDs.

At Johnson County Community College, it’s no secret that our students enjoy a slew of benefits – helpful faculty, a great food court, free tutors, more than 80 clubs/organizations and, to top it off, a beautiful campus. As a JCCC credit student, you are also eligible for exclusive discounts and promotions – all you have to do is flash your student ID.

Discover a variety of discounts and promotions

Here’s the scoop. Your student ID can help you secure a variety of discounts and promotions that – depending on the time of year – may include salon services at the JCCC School of Cosmetology, tickets to local events such as Royals and Sporting Kansas City games, and more. Stop by the Student Activities Welcome Desk in the Student Center to find out what discounted tickets are available.

You’re also eligible for on-campus perks including access to:

You can even load dining dollars to your ID to use in any of the Dining Services areas and coffee bars.

Cassie Fulk, Student Activities Manager, said, “All of our resource centers, the Student Lounge and many of the offices on campus related to student service are only accessible with a student ID card, which will allow students to be in the know about what is available to them on campus.”

Secure your student ID

If you take at least one credit hour at JCCC, you are eligible for a student ID and all the benefits that come with it.

Students who meet the enrollment requirements and have paid tuition can go to the Student Activities Welcome Desk or the Library to obtain their ID. Please note, you must have a current photo ID to receive your student ID. The card is free, but a replacement costs $10.

From the student perspective

Karen Rivera-Cobain, a JCCC student, used her ID card to purchase tickets to the Carlsen Center Presents show, Mariachi Sol De México, as a birthday gift for her aunt and uncle.

“My aunt had been dying to see the mariachi band perform,” said Rivera-Cobain. “When I showed her the tickets, she let out a tiny scream because she was so surprised and excited. It was a great feeling to give my aunt something she wanted for a long time.”

Rivera-Cobain was grateful for the student discount because she could afford to buy this heartfelt gift for her family.

More than just IDentification!

Stop by the Student Center or Library and smile pretty for your student ID. Then, experience your benefits firsthand.
