World Myth Interactive Exhibition
- Wednesday - April 26, 2017
- 10:00 AM
- CoLab, OCB 100
Students enrolled in a world mythology humanities course showcase projects they’ve created. World mythology comes to life.
Students have constructed projects that frame world mythology as it is expressed in contemporary culture. Wander through exhibits as students tell their tales through stories and games, often in costume with props and posters. Complimentary refreshments; come and go as you please.
Star Wars will focus on the Hero's Journey as described in Joseph Campbell's book “Hero With A Thousand Faces.”
DC Comics will tie the comic book heroes to the Greek and Roman heroes.
Witches will explore such characters as Circe (Odyssey), Hecate (Hesiod's Theogony, Greek) and Morgan le Fay (Arthurian legend).
Vikings will explore the ancient Norse legends, food and environment (including weapons and ships).
Voodoo will tie in stories from Africa to Haiti to New Orleans.
Demons will look at evil characters from many sources, including the Bible.
Legend of Zelda and Warcraft video games have underlying myths that will be explored in the exhibits.
Food, games, lightsaber sparring, a dry-ice chamber and other visitor experiences will be available as well.
