Auditing a course means that you may attend a course regularly without being required to take exams or complete assignments. You receive no college credit for audited courses. Requests to audit a course will be granted only if space is available in the course and permission has been given by the appropriate academic department.
Tuition and Fees
Tuition and fees for audited courses are the same as those for credit courses and payment is due in full on the day you enroll. Financial aid does not pay for audited courses. Johnson County, Kansas residents who are age 60 and over are not eligible for reduced tuition for audited courses.
Audit vs. Credit Enrollment Status
Credit enrollment cannot be converted to audit status and audit enrollment cannot be changed to credit enrollment. Students may not enroll for credit, drop the course, and then re-enroll for audit in the same course section. Audited courses will not be considered in determining full-time or part-time enrollment status and may not satisfy enrollment requirements for graduation.
To enroll to audit a course:
- Students may request permission to audit a course beginning on the first day the class meets.
- Complete an Audit Enrollment Request (forms are also available in the Success Center).
- Obtain the signature of the instructor and the appropriate academic administrator of the course.
- Return the completed and signed form to the Success Center.
