Advice for Pre-Education Students

If you're preparing for a career in teaching, consider meeting with a JCCC counselor to discuss your plans and visiting the Career Development Center to learn more about being a professional educator.

If you're planning a career in elementary or secondary education, this advice may help you through the process of becoming a teacher, starting with your coursework at JCCC.

JCCC offers two specific degrees and a certificate for those interested in careers related to teaching. Be sure to talk with a JCCC counselor about these degrees and their transferability to a four-year school.

  • Early Childhood Education Certificate and Associate's Degree
    The Early Childhood Education AS degree is great for early childhood center lead teachers and administrators. Learn more about the type of career you may be able to start with this certificate and degree.
  • Professional Paraeducator Program Associate's Degree
    The Professional Paraeducator Program is designed to recruit, educate and place well-qualified personnel who will function as effective partners to students, teachers, administrators and parents. Learn more about the type of career you may be able to start with this degree.
