Poster Abstracts: Submission Guidelines
Moving to Mastery: Culture and Conversation

Research Study, Case Study, and Special Topic abstracts will be considered.

Research Abstracts must include:

  1. Purpose or hypothesis of the study
  2. Number and type of subjects
  3. Materials and methods
  4. Type(s) of data analysis used
  5. Summary data
  6. Numerical results of statistical test(s) where appropriate
  7. Conclusion
  8. Clinical relevance. This category can also include single-subject research designs

Case Study Abstracts must involve PT treatment of patients and include:

  1. Purpose/introduction
  2. Accurate descriptions of the patient(s), treatments and outcomes
  3. Discussion regarding the unique clinical insight(s) gained from the case study
  4. Conclusion, being careful to avoid overstating

Special Topic Abstracts:
We welcome abstracts that describe a systematic selection and critique of evidence relevant to well-defined questions about diagnosis, prevention, prognosis, or intervention.

Abstracts must include:

  1. Purpose
  2. Data sources/criteria for study selection
  3. Results
  4. Conclusion
  5. Clinical relevance


Abstract Submissions will be evaluated using the following Rubric:

The introduction includes the objective, purpose, and relevance to education/clinical practice

The author provides sufficient  analysis of supporting literature

The study design and methods are appropriate and clearly explained the study or project design.

Analysis / Evaluation:
The analysis/evaluation includes an analysis of techniques used and sound statistical analysis. 

Provide results using measurable metrics and including significance to current practice. The results were appropriate generalized and contribute notably to the field. 

Authors provide recommendations for education, practice or policy. 

The writing is clear. Quality references are provided. Submission adheres to submission guidelines. 


Conference posters will be reviewed and awards will be presented during the conference Thursday afternoon.

All authors will be invited to be present with their posters during the Thursday morning break and Thursday reception.

All author(s) will be recognized during the Thursday reception.

  1. Title
  2. List of faculty presenters, credentials, and email contact information for each presenter
  3. Information for primary contact:
    Name, Position, Organization, Address, Phone number and Email address
  4. School/Organization Affiliation
  5. Abstract (500 word maximum)                                                                                                                                                                 

Suggested format: Introduction/Objective, Background/Preparation, Methods, Analysis/Evaluation, Results, Conclusions and References
