"Asking the Right Question, the Key to Good Assessment"
Thursday, May 4, 2017 | 1:30-2:45 p.m.
Designing strong assessment activities at the program, course or campus level is dependent on knowing what you want to learn about your students. This is accomplished by writing a good assessment research question. Join us at this pre-conference workshop as Dr. Sheri Barrett, director of the Office of Outcomes Assessment at Johnson County Community College, and Melissa Giese, director of Institutional Research and Assessment at Metropolitan Community College-Kansas City, share hands-on activities geared toward defining assessment initiatives on your campus.
"Strategies for Sustainable Co-Curricular Assessment"
Thursday, May 4, 2017 | 3-4:30 p.m.
Myths and orthodoxy around co-curricular assessment sometimes strip the process of its ability to provide meaningful analyses of the student experience. How can assessment leaders work with academic and student affairs to garner and disseminate useful data for decision-making support at the levels of institutional accreditation, administrative planning, faculty advising and teaching, and student success? This session outlines practical steps for creating and maintaining reasonable, sustainable co-curricular assessment.
