Hiersteiner Child Development Center

Hiersteiner Child Development Center

The Hiersteiner Child Development Center program is designed to support the efforts of JCCC students to pursue their educational goals and to offer support needed by JCCC faculty and staff to achieve their work potential.

The center is licensed by the Kansas State Department of Health and Environment and accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs.

Enrollment is currently limited to children of JCCC students, faculty and staff; however, enrollment will be opening to the community starting in fall 2014.

A child must be 12 months and pass a walking test. HCDC accepts children up through the age of 6 if they turn 6 after September 1 of the current school year. The center provides child education and care on a part- or full-time basis, with toddler early learning and preschool programs offered in the morning and afternoon.

The toddler classrooms Hideaway Woods, Bug Garden and Big Backyard have a teacher/student ratio of 1:4.

Young preschool classrooms Bamboo Forest and African Kingdom have a teacher/student ratio of 1:9. Preschool classrooms Blue Lagoon and Rainforest have a teacher/student ratio of 1:10.

HCDC is fortunate not only to have a roster of well-educated classroom personnel, but we also have trained on-call substitutes.
