Description:

This course continues the work in Applied Harp II. The student will work in a studio setting with an instructor. Assignments will be based on the individual student's readiness. Work will emphasize further growth in areas of technical development, understanding musical styles, developing music vocabulary and building a performance repertoire. 1/2 hr/wk.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate increased technical facility on the harp.
  2. Memorize materials as assigned.
  3. Develop additional skill in interpreting musical styles.
  4. Define standard music terminology required by the literature.
  5. Increase personal repertoire. 

Content Outline and Competencies:

Because of the nature of private instruction, the student at each
level will increase competence in meeting the course objectives.  Music
will be assigned to fit the individual student needs and skills.

Method of Evaluation and Competencies:

Evaluation of student mastery of course competencies will be accomplished using the following methods:

Weekly lesson performance     60-90%
Quizzes/tests/master class    10-15%
Recital or juried performance 10-15%
  Total                        100%

Grading Criteria:
  A =  90 - 100%
  B =  80 -  89% 
  C =  70 -  79% 
  D =  60 -  69% 
  F =  below 60% 

Caveats:

  1. Attendance at weekly lessons is mandatory.
