Anthropology
Welcome to the JCCC Department of Anthropology. Our department currently offers nine courses including introductory and specialized courses preparatory to the major. These courses are also designed to broaden the field of knowledge for students who major in other disciplines and provide an opportunity for inquiry for anyone interested in cultural studies.
A strength of the department is our emphasis on applied anthropology. Many of our faculty members are actively engaged in community-based participatory research and community-based archaeology. As a result of faculty research, course content reflects the latest developments in the rapidly changing field of anthropology. Many courses offer students the opportunity for service-learning and to participate in faculty-supervised research.
