Kansas Residency Requirements for Pending Residents, Asylum and Refugee


Individuals of lawful asylum, refugee and pending permanent residents may choose at anytime, to submit documentation of their Kansas residence in order to be considered for the in-state tuition rate.

You may submit any of the following:

  • A valid Kansas driver’s license with an issue date no less than six months prior to the first official day of class of the semester
  • A valid Kansas state identification card with an issue date no less than six months prior to the first official day of class of the semester
  • A completed JCCC Residency Appeal Form accompanied by the required documentation, as explained on the appeal form.

To appeal the tuition rate you have been assessed submit a JCCC Residency Appeal Form accompanied by the required documentation, as explained on the appeal form.

  • Appeals must be submitted by the deadlines specified on the form.
