Lost and Found
Lost Property
Campus police can't search for personal items on campus, but the Police Department holds found items temporarily as a courtesy.
When property is turned in to the Police Department, it is placed in Room 115 of the Carlsen Center.
To determine if your property is there and to claim property from that location, check with the police dispatcher in room 115 of the Carlsen Center or call the dispatcher at 913-469-8500, ext. 4112. You may stop by or call seven days a week during normal campus hours.
Unclaimed items are removed weekly from Room 115 of the Carlsen Center and are placed in the Police Department’s property Room, Room 335A of the General Education Building (GEB), which is inside the Craig Community Auditorium.
To determine if your property is in the property room, check this online list or call the college operator or the Police Department’s property room at 913-469-8500 ext. 5678.
Due to the volume of inquiries, the property officer will only contact you if police have your property. You’ll need an appointment with the property officer to pick up an item from the property room.
You must have a photo identification to pick up your property. Property will not be released to anyone but the owner. Property not claimed by the end of the current semester will be disposed of per Police Department policy.
Found Property
The JCCC Police Department does NOT accept organic matter, floppy disks, or any other computer storage media such as flash drives, thumb drives, etc.
Please turn in lost items as soon as they are discovered. This increases the possibility of returning items to their owners.
Do not store quantities of items to be turned in later. Mass pickups of items will not be made nor will mass dropoffs of items accepted.
Items held longer than 48 hours will not be picked up or accepted. Property not turned in to campus police cannot be returned to its owner.
