Reported Crimes by Date

The JCCC Police Department believes that dissemination of information is the key to educating our college community about the occurrence of crime on campus. For this reason, the department prepares a log of reported crimes by date that details the date reported, time of occurrence, location and disposition of crimes that occur on campus. The department also provides, through various media, a timely notice of crimes reported to campus or local police to aid in the prevention of similar crimes.

Crime log case numbers do not run sequentially. The JCCC Police Department assigns a case number for all reportable activities, both criminal and non-criminal. Only case numbers generated for criminal activity are listed in the crime log. Crimes are in chronological order. The most recent crimes are at the top of the list. If a date is not listed, no crime was reported to JCCC Police that day.

According to Federal Law, an institution may withhold any of the required fields of entry, i.e. the nature, date, time, location and/or disposition if any of the following conditions apply:

  1. The disclosure is prohibited by law
  2. If disclosure would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim
  3. If disclosure would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or the safety of an individual
  4. If disclosure would cause a suspect to flee or evade detection
  5. If disclosure would result in the destruction of evidence

Per Clery Act requirements you may request a copy of the last sixty (60) days of crime logs from the JCCC Police Department during normal business hours. The request must be made in person at the JCCC Police Department and the copy is free of charge. The purpose of the crime log is to provide the JCCC community with timely information on criminal incidents and alleged criminal incidents reported to the campus police department. Case dispositions in the Crime Log are defined as follows:

Closed. Referred to Prosecutor: The case is referred to the prosecutor’s office. That agency will review the case and determine if charges will be filed.
