CPAT - Candidate Physical Ability Test

The CPAT is designed to identify people who are physically able to perform essential job tasks at fire scenes.


Successful CPAT participants will be given a certification verifying successful completion of the test. This certificate may facilitate the hiring process for departments requiring successful CPAT completion.

The following Items are required in order to take the CPAT

  • Photo I.D.
  • Long pants.

CPAT candidates are required to attend two timed practice sessions. However, there is a waiver form on which a candidate can waive the right to practice; the waiver may be completed on test day.

What to Expect for the Test
