The following information comes from the named instructor and should describe characteristics general to courses as taught by this instructor. Individual sections of specific courses will deviate from this description in some respects.

Class Format

Classes are informal. Generally each class is begun with questions and answers. New material is presented with a note guide supplied to the student. Students work problems in the notes. At times, students solve problems together. Students are encouraged to answer questions and discuss.

Resource Use

Book: Extensive
Calculator: Extensive
Software: None

Students will need a book to use as a reference and to work assigned homework problems. Further, students will be required to have a graphing calculator, preferably a TI-84.

Four exams account for about 67% of the total grade.  Nine homework quizzes and one mastery test account for about 17% of the total grade and one final accounts for about 17% of the total grade. Occasionally a project will substitute for a quiz grade.

Homework Policy

Homework is not collected for a grade.  Rather, each day a homework quiz is given with selected problems.  The student will copy the homework problems straight from their homework.

Attendance Policy

Attendance is not required, but missed classes lead to missed information and will make it very difficult for the student to be successful.

I am available 30 minutes before and after every class period in the classroom.

Additional Information

I love teaching math. I hope that I can make math a pleasant experience for every student and that my students will be able to move forward with their education with the necessary knowledge.
