The following information comes from the named instructor and should describe characteristics general to courses as taught by this instructor. Individual sections of specific courses will deviate from this description in some respects.

Class Format

Classes are generally whole-group problem sessions with student participation. Some group work,as well as individual activities, provide variety to the learning environment. The focus of discussion is concepts and examples, with some theory and application. (depending on the level of the course.)

Software: Limited

Books are used for class preparation and for homework problems. Scientific calculators are used in developmental classes and graphing calculators are used for College Algebra and above. Occasionally software is used to offer other options for practice and learning.


Grades are based on 4 to 6 exams, in-class worksheets, activities, projects and the required departmental final.

Homework Policy

Practice exercises are assigned daily. Daily homework is checked for completion and homework questions are addressed, but homework is not collected.

Attendance Policy

Attendance is taken daily and is strongly recommended for students desiring to succeed.


Office hours are scheduled for students to visit, and students may make appointments at other times, if office times are not convenient.
