The following information comes from the named instructor and should describe characteristics general to courses as taught by this instructor. Individual sections of specific courses will deviate from this description in some respects.

Class Format

The class begins with a short discussion of current economic issues. I present each unit in a lecture/dialogue format with the help of slides and diagrams. Students are strongly encouraged to take notes and participate. At times we share personal experiences and stories that relate to the business/economics world.

Resource Use

Book: Required

Calculator: Limited

There are four unit tests, including the final, totaling 400 points. Another 250 points come from homework, class participation, a  web entry assignment, and a report. The final exam is not comprehensive. There is a test review before each test.

Homework Policy

Each unit has a number of homework assignments. We review most of the assignments in class, therefore being present is a definite plus. Late assignments are worth less points.

Attendance Policy

Attendance is required. It is the department policy not to drop students who stop attending classes. It is the student responsibility to drop the class for lack of attendance.

I have office hours by appointment. I’m always available before and after class in case my students have questions.
