The following information comes from the named instructor and should describe characteristics general to courses as taught by this instructor. Individual sections of specific courses will deviate from this description in some respects.

Class Format

Face-to-Face sections: Lecture and lab combined in one classroom.  Lab work consists of examination of anatomical models and application of physiological principles.

Hybrid sections: lab sessions only on campus. Lab work consists of examination of anatomical models and application of physiological principles. Textbook and lab book exercises are completed at home.

Resource Use

Moderate level of computer skill is necessary. Extensive use of textbook (in hand or ebook) is required.  Numerous aids to learning (PowerPoint presentations, publisher’s website, etc.) are available.

Assessment:

20 textbook chapter tests comprise 50% of the final grade and are taken online on the student’s schedule.  4 major lab exams (40%) are taken in class.  Lab book exercises (10%) are completed and turned in at the end of every class.

Homework Policy:

Lab book exercises may be partially completed prior to coming to class. Additional study in the Open Lab or the Science Resource Learning Center is strongly encouraged.

Attendance Policy:

JCCC has no mandatory attendance policy. However, success in A&P is unlikely without regular attendance. Lab book exercises may be turned in only at the end of each class period.

Availability:

The open classroom arrangement permits short conferences during each period.  Email is checked at least 3 times daily including weekends. Phone messaging is available.

Office hours (in Olathe Health Education center) are posted at the beginning of the semester.
