Student Assessment

Attendance required; participation, homework, quizzes, tests, and essays are used to evaluate student performance; comprehensive final exam; make-up by arrangement.

Tests and quizzes

  • Quizzes-20% (daily in-class and 8-10 online/chapter)
  • 5-6 chapter tests-20%
  • Final exam-10% (no final exam required if pre-final grade is 90% or higher)
  • Make-up after class or in Testing Center.

Native speaker; born and lived in Germany until age 23, dual German and American citizenship, B.A., M.A., Ph.D.; Fulbright, Lieberman, and Richardson teaching excellence awards; Seaman High School, Kansas Association of Teachers of German, and Kansas Foreign Language Teacher of the Year; European, North and Central American travel; professional interests: German customs/culture, current events, post-World War II history, contemporary literature.
