Brent Smith is a primary instructor coordinator for EMS First Responder (EMS 128) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMS 131) classes at Johnson County Community College. Typically, Mr. Smith co-teaches each course with another instructor. Also, he works as a lab instructor for all aspects of the EMS program, ranging from EMR to Paramedic.

Mr. Smith started his career as a volunteer firefighter and EMS provider in 1998 with the Edwardsville Fire Department. Since receiving his paramedic certificate he has worked for MAST Ambulance, KCFD and LifeFlight Eagle. In addition to Mr. Smith’s duties at JCCC he also currently works full-time at the Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department. He has held positions as an EMT, paramedic, dispatcher and critical care paramedic with a total of over 16 years of full-time paramedic services.
