What will I learn?

Time-based media is an artistic tool that conveys strong emotion and powerful imagery. In this program you will learn to think critically about the media you consume and create. You’ll assess art in terms of its cultural, political, social and historical impact. You will also learn to use and recognize techniques that will evoke the intended viewer’s response to your work.

You will start by studying the techniques, theories and methodologies used in filmmaking. You will learn to interpret the signs, syntaxes and structures of cinematic language. See how time-based media is used in fine arts, entertainment and business.

Use the concepts of time, space, composition, light, color and sound to express your conceptual ideas. Apply your skills to create films using single-camera techniques. Showcase your work in gallery exhibitions, film festivals or on your own YouTube channel.

Deepen your learning with classes in Fine Arts, Photography, Digital Imaging, Journalism, Recording Arts, Animation, Art History and Theatre.
