Instructors have provided the following information to generally describe what to expect in their classes.


Biology

Class Format

All face to face: Anatomy & Physiology (BIOL 144)

Resource Use

Power Points used in class are available online through the course shell. Course shell has link to McGraw-Hill website which contains useful learning tools. The College provides a website where students can view many of the models used in the class.

Textbooks

"Hole’s Human Anatomy & Physiology" by Shier, Butler, and Lewis, McGraw-Hill, 13th edition. Most students rent text from JCCC Bookstore.

Assessment

Grades are based on total points earned throughout the semester. 600 points from six exams, 100 points from the student’s ten best quizzes, and 100 points based on ten homework assignments.

Homework Policy

Homework is based on the Lab Manual. College Bookstore sells a custom edition of the 12th edition. 12th edition will work for this class. Ten assignments worth 10 points each. Hole’s Human Anatomy & Physiology Laboratory Manual (it is the cat version, although we do not dissect a cat) 12th edition. Most students use the custom version of this manual purchased from the JCCC Bookstore.

Attendance Policy

Exams are based on material covered in class. Attendance is highly recommended.

Availability

I am willing to meet with students when not in class. They need to make an appointment. I have office hours Monday afternoon and I am often to be found in the office (SCI 114B) at other times. Email is the best way to contact me. I also give students my home phone number.
