Delve into Computer-Aided Drafting and Design to combine problem solving, software and drawing

State-of-the-art software, up-to-date equipment and experienced professors help you to become a drafting technician, who creates specifications and drawings for almost anything that’s constructed and manufactured.

Build your skills

In as few as four semesters, you can study to master computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) principles. Then use your skills to produce shop drawings, land plats, commercial buildings, component parts and more.

In the CADD program, math, science and engineering skills are important, but working collaboratively and communicating clearly are vital skills, too. Tech skills and “soft skills” are necessary to take an undefined concept and transform it into a functional reality.

Practice what you learn

CADD technicians are in high demand, especially those with advanced skills using software such as AutoCad, REVIT, INVENTOR and SketchUp. These programs are standards in the industry, and you’ll learn them using a hands-on approach. A professor teaches and then gives you one-on-one attention as you practice each concept.

Discipline-specific classes in architecture and civil, mechanical and structural design sharpen your skills even more.

Gain more real-world experience from job shadowing and internship opportunities at local firms and businesses where CADD skills make you a vital part of a team. Architectural firms, construction companies, specialized design services and manufacturing firms employ dedicated technicians who have the skills taught at JCCC.
