Horticultural Sciences

Transfer Information

An associate’s degree in Horticultural Sciences is a great way to begin further study of horticulture, biology, ecology or botany. Talk to your counselor about the programs best aligned with your career goals.

JCCC works with many four-year colleges and universities to ensure that classes taken at JCCC will successfully transfer so our students can continue their academic careers.

Currently JCCC has two agreements with Kansas State University. Westrongly encourage you to make an appointment with a JCCC academic counselor if you intend to transfer.

Horticulture 2+2 program

JCCC has a 2+2 articulation agreement with Kansas State University where students can take the first two years of horticulture curriculum at JCCC and transfer to KSU to complete their horticulture degree. Our transfer curriculum provides students with solid skills and comprehensive courses in the green industry. The curriculum allows students to confidently enter the next level of professional education.

Golf Course Management/Sports Turf Operations Management

Several JCCC courses will transfer to Kansas State University to fulfill basic requirements for their degree programs.

JCCC maintains over 200 transfer guides with various four-year university partners. A transfer guide is a resource for you to efficiently map out your academic plan.

These guides include course equivalents and general program, transfer and departmental contact information. We update these annually, however we urge you to also check university websites for the most recent transfer information.

We STRONGLY encourage you to meet with a JCCC counselor and an advisor from the respective university. JCCC provides opportunities for you to meet with advisors from four-year universities in the JCCC counseling center.

If you're planning to transfer to a four-year university you should:

  • Start the transfer process early and plan ahead
  • Be aware of specific GPA and admission requirements for different universities and programs
  • Research important dates including application and scholarship deadlines
  • Understand specific transfer policies such as how transfer GPA works and Pass/Fail policies
  • Meet with a JCCC counselor for more help and information
