Narrative
  • The first groups of students using the Student Pathways are first-time, degree-seeking students.  There are interventions planned from the time the student submits the application for admission and lasts throughout their first semester, including establishing a personalized engagement plan and case management team, a mandatory meeting with a counselor to discuss their academic and personal goals, first-day ready orientation, and a first semester enrollment plan including a course specific for students still deciding and/or exploring educational and career options.  In their second semester, Pathways students are assigned a counselor with whom they continue discussing life goals.
  • The ongoing SET will continue to develop new Student Enrollment Plans (SEP) in five areas of concentration toward enrollment: retention and completion efforts, academic and learning strategies, marketing strategies, service and engagement strategies, and technology strategies. The team will continue to discover and leverage the resources and tools at its disposal to map future enrollment plans. Recent examples include the team's implementation of the ZogoTech and Power Bi software tools, which allow for specific data research and real-time tracking into student populations and enrollment figures.
  • Veteran and Military Services has current and future plans to expand programs offered: Peer Mentoring/Peer Advisor for Veterans’ Education Program (PAVE) and Veteran Student Orientation. Through the mentoring program, veterans will meet with other veterans to receive assistance as they navigate the admission process and transition into college life. Peer mentors will be currently enrolled student veterans with a desire to assist fellow veterans in reaching their educational goals. The JCCC Veterans and Military Resource Center will be the home base for the peer mentoring program, and serve as a location where veteran students can drop in, call, or email to connect with a peer mentor, a JCCC Veterans Services staff member, or a JCCC Veterans Counselor.
