The Johnson County Community College Police Department can fine individuals for violating the Tobacco and Smoke Free Campus Policy in accordance with this Operating Procedure.

I. Fines: The first violation of the Tobacco and Smoke Free Campus Policy will be assessed a fine of $10. Any subsequent violation(s) and/or unpaid violation(s) on file can result in additional $10 fines.

II. Student Violation of Policy: Students who have an unpaid fine for a tobacco and smoke violation for more than 10 business days will have their records placed on “hold.” This action will prevent the student from adding or dropping classes, enrolling in future classes and obtaining a copy of his or her transcript until all fines are paid.

III. Faculty and Staff Violation of Policy: Any employee with an unpaid tobacco and smoke violation will be referred to Human Resources and may be disciplined.

IV. Appeal Procedures:

Appeals of tobacco and smoke violations must be submitted on the JCCC Appeal Form (hard copies available at the Student Welcome Desk in the Student Center) and received by the JCCC Police Department in the Midwest Trust Center, CC 115, within (10) business days after issuance of the ticket, or the right to appeal is forfeited.

V. Payment of Fines:

Fines may be paid at the JCCC Bursar's Office, SC 113, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
