Blue Care Health Maintenance Option (HMO)
The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City Blue-Care HMO medical option provides convenient, managed health care.
You and your dependents will need to choose a primary care physician (PCP) who will coordinate your routine, day-to-day medical care. This plan is an open-access HMO, meaning that, you do not need a written referral from your PCP to see a specialist who participates in the Blue-Care network. You can self-refer to any participating specialist.
You can enjoy a wide range of benefits and have a choice of physicians and facilities from a number of locations throughout the Kansas City metro area. Many services are covered at 100 percent after a $35 or $70 copayment.
This plan has no deductible; although it does have a calendar year, out-of-pocket maximum of $6,350 per individual and $12,700 for family.
"Away from Home Care" coverage may also be of interest to you if you or your dependents are away from the HMO area for extended periods of time. For information, call BCBS of KC at 816-395-3320.
