From Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) to Registered Nurse (RN), the Nursing program gives you a nursing education and real-life, hands-on clinical training. With experienced instructors and small class sizes, you’ll have time and attention to learn the skills you need to provide exceptional patient care.

Options for a Profession in Healthcare

To get started, make an appointment with a JCCC counselor and attend a nursing information session.

Begin your healthcare career with our Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program.

After passing the Kansas CNA exam, and being active on the Kansas Nurse Aide Registry, you can work as a Certified Nurse Aide and enroll in our other nursing programs.

Increase your qualifications as a Certified Nurse Aide by earning your CMA certification. As a Certified Medication Aide, you’ll know how to safely administer drugs and medications to patients.

Career requirement: Pass the Kansas CMA Exam

Earn your Practical Nurse Certificate and you’ll be prepared to work in various medical care settings, including pediatrics, obstetrics, gerontology, mental health and much more! JCCC offers full-time and part-time options, so you can choose the path that suits your needs.

Career requirement: Pass NCLEX-PN exam

If you are a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) looking to become a Registered Nurse (RN), JCCC’s LPN to RN Bridge program is for you. After meeting the admission requirements, you’ll be on your way to earning an Associate of Applied Science degree after completing the required courses.

Career requirement: Pass NCLEX-RN exam

In JCCC’s Registered Nurse (Associate Degree Nurse), AAS program, you’ll earn your Associate of Applied Science degree through 66 hours, or four semesters, of coursework. Gain hands-on experience caring for patients and prepare to work in various specialties of the medical field.

Career requirement: Pass NCLEX-RN exam

With the KU School of Nursing/JCCC partnership (known as CCNP) you can dual-enroll in JCCC's Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) and KU's Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) coursework.

Learn and connect

There are many nursing programs in the Kansas City area, but JCCC offers a wide range of options and experiences. The College has strong partnerships with area long-term-care facilities, clinics, and hospitals, giving you real-world learning experiences and opening doors for your career. The Nursing programs at JCCC are accredited and approved by the Kansas State Board of Nursing and the Kansas Board of Regents. Area medical professionals volunteer on our advisory committees to keep instruction relevant and strengthen the curriculum-career connection.

Real equipment, real scenarios

You will get hands-on experience in a Healthcare Simulation Center. Located both on the main JCCC campus in Overland Park and at the Olathe Health Education Center, these centers have the same look, feel, and equipment you’ll find in a real hospital, with surgical, labor/delivery, and recovery rooms.

Highly sophisticated patient simulators can be programmed with hundreds of symptoms to test your skills and knowledge. Each room is equipped with video recording equipment to film you in action, providing you with valuable feedback and debriefings for continued improvement along with your nursing education.
